A 78-year-old woman died of immolation in Kykaluru mandal in Krishna district today, police said.
D Neelamma, a resident of Seethanapalli village, was in her hut this morning when the dwelling caught fire, reportedly due to short circuit, Senior Inspector (SI) Ch Ranjithkumar of Kykaluru Rural Police said.
The victim got immolated and died of the burns. Her grandson informed the matter to police and fire brigade, he said.
A case has been registered, he said, adding further investigation is on.
