In the wake of a physically challenged man being "thrashed" by RPF personnel at Howrah station near Kolkata, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today said serious action would be taken against them if they misbehaved with passengers.
"We have given strict instructions to Railway Police Force that they cannot misbehave with passengers. We have asked them to deal with them in most courteous and human manner. If anybody is found misbehaving with them, we will take serious action against them," he told reporters here.
In fact, strict action has been taken against some RPF officials misbehaving with passengers in the past, Prabhu said. "We have taken very serious action against quite a few of them," he added.

The installation of several CCTvs at railway stations has helped the authorities to take action against such RPF officials' misbehaviour, Prabhu said. "At many places we have placed CCTvs and because of this, we have been able to take action," he added.
Prabhu said the Railways have started programmes which trains RPF officials to behave in a courteous and human manner. "In addition to this, we have started training programmes of how to deal with the passengers," he added.
