The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has terminated the services of Hailakandi DDMA District Project Officer, Ikbal Hussain Laskar, for allegedly submitting his Annual Confidential Report (ACR) fraudulently.
Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman, District Disaster Management Authprity (DDMA), Adil Khan had pointed out the criminal offence committed by Laskar of fraudulently submitting the ACR to the ASDMA for renewal of his annual contract without the DDMA chairman's approval or knowledge, an official spokesman said Monday.
Laskar has been terminated with retrospective effect from August 11, 2018, an order issued by ASDMA chief executive officer, said Saturday.
He has been asked to hand over all official documents and electronic gadgets to the Field Officer, Hailakandi revenue circle and settle the financial liabilities incurred during his tenure, the order said.
The matter came to the fore when the ASDMA sent a letter to Khan on August 18 informing him about the renewal of Laskar's contract.

Khan immediately wrote to the Joint Secretary and State Project Coordinator, ASDMA about the matter.
On inquiry, Khan found out that Laskar had kept him in the dark on the need to endorse his ACR for a three-month period. He had submitted it in a fraudulent manner to the ASDMA CEO and got his contract renewed from July 1 last.
Laskar was also found to be inefficient, callous and incapable of discharging his responsibilities in disaster management and preparedness, the deputy commissioner had pointed out in his letter.
He remained conspicuous by his absence when flood wrecked havoc in the district in June last, the letter read.
Despite several warnings, he did not mend his ways, a show cause notice was served on him but the reasons he cited were unacceptable and rejected outright by the authorities concerned, the deputy commissioner stated.
