Sesa FC warded off Mohammedan Sporting's challenge in the second half to score a 1-0 win in their group C quarterfinal league match of the 127th Durand Cup, played at Raia Panchayat ground, this evening.
Sesa Football Academy started on an attacking note as they moved the ball well among themselves on the flanks, followed by lofted crosses that kept the rival defense on tight lease.
So pronounced was their attack that the visitors hardly got a clear look at the goal in the first half. Sesa FC, who created a couple of clear chances but failed to get past the rival keeper, failed to break the deadlock in the barren first half.
Sesa FC finally scored soon after the interval in the 48th minute when Jaison Vaz, who received a pass from Myran Pereira inside the box, uncorked a stiff grounder that beat rival keeper Arnab Das Sharma to find the net which ultimately proved to be the winner.
