Sesa FC reach Durnad Prelim semis win 5-3 win over Army Red

Sesa Football Academy got the better of Army Red 5-3 via tie breaker to enter the semi-finals of the Preliminary round of the 127th Durand Cup, played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, this evening.

The match which was to be held at Signals ground, Navelim had to be shifted at the artifical Duler Stadium after the ground was rendered unplayable due to persistent rain since yesterday.

Both the teams played attacking game with Sesa Football Academy taking the lead in the 14th minutes through Alber Gonsalves in the 16th minute.

Army Red fought back and restored parity two minutes before interval.
 

With both the teams failing to break the deadlock as both remained 1-1 draw at regulation time, tie breaker was introduced and Sesa Football Academy converted four of the five penalties against two by their opponents to emerge winners.

For the winners, Alber Gonsalves, Pontif Vaz, Yogesh Kadam and Francis Z converted. While Santu Subba and Dileep M converted for the loosers.

They now meet Tuff Laxmi Prasad another Goan outfits tomorrow in the evening in the semi-finals. The other semifinal will be played betwen AIFF and Vasco.
