Sesame,cottonseed oils surge as demand picks up

Sesame and cottonseed oils edged higher by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today mostly on pickup in demand from retailers.

Among the non-edibles, castor oil also traded higher on increased offtake by consuming industries.

Traders said scattered buying by retailers mainly led to the rise in sesame and cottonseed oil prices.

In the national capital, sesame mill delivery and cottonseed mill delivery (Haryana) oils went up by Rs 50 each to Rs 8,050 and Rs 5,750 per quintal, respectively.

Castor oil edged up by Rs 50 to Rs 9,800-9,900 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):
 

Oilseeds: Mustardseed Rs 2,950-3,050 and Groundnutseed Rs 2,150-2,900. Vanaspati Ghee (15-litre tin) Rs 850-1,065.

Edible oils: Groundnut Mill Delivery (Gujarat) Rs 8,900, Groundnut Solvent Refined (per tin) Rs 1,600-1,650, Mustard expeller (Dadri) Rs 7,550, Mustard Pakki Ghani (per tin) Rs 1,250-1,300, Mustard Kachi Ghani (per tin) Rs 1,300-1,400, sesame mill delivery Rs 8,050, Soyabean Refined Mill Delivery (Indore) Rs 6,600, Soyabean Degum (Kandla) Rs 6,300, Crude Palm Oil (Ex-Kandla) Rs 4,250, Cottonseed Mill Delivery (Haryana) Rs 5,750, Palmolein (RBD) Rs 5,600, Palmolein (Kandla) Rs 5,500 and Coconut (per tin) Rs 2,225-2,250.

Non-edible oils: Linseed Rs 8,450, Castor Rs 9,800-9,900, Neem Rs 5,350-5,450.
