Sesame oil falls on sluggish demand

Sesame oil prices declined by Rs 100 per quintal in the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today owing to subdued demand.

Coconut oil also eased on weak demand amid lower trend in producing belts.

Traders said adequate stocks position against subdued demand mainly kept pressure on sesame and coconut oil prices.

Meanwhile, India's vegetable oils imports rose 12 per cent to all time high of 11.82 million tonnes in the 2013-14 marketing year ended October.

In the national capital, sesame mill delivery oil declined by Rs 100 to Rs 8,200 per quintal.

Coconut oil eased to Rs 2,600-2,650 against last close of Rs 2,675-2,750 per tin.
 

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Oilseeds: Mustard seed 2,950-3,050 and Groundnut Seed 2,150-2,900.

Vanaspati Ghee (15-litre tin) 960-1,130.

Edible oils: Groundnut Mill Delivery (Gujarat) 7,750, Groundnut Solvent Refined (per tin) 1,350-1,400, Mustard expeller (Dadri) 7,200, Mustard Pakki Ghani (per tin) 1,200- 1,250, Mustard Kachi Ghani (per tin) 1,250-1,350, sesame mill delivery 8,200, Soyabean Refined Mill Delivery (Indore) 6,700, Soyabean Degum (Kandla) 6,400, Crude Palm Oil (Ex-Kandla) 4,600, Cottonseed Mill Delivery (Haryana) 6,000, Palmolein (RBD) 5,900, Palmolein (Kandla) 5,700 and Coconut (per tin) 2,600-2,650.

Non-edible oils: Linseed 8,150, Castor 9,650-9,750, Neem 5,350-5,450.
