Goa has 4,000-odd industrial units, of which only one was reported to be "sick" and 39 were "closed", Industries Minister Mahadev Naik told the Assembly today.
"(There are) total of4,355registered industriesin Goa. Further,307 entrepreneurs have filed online 'Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM)' from September 18 last year till March 31 this year with the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises," Naik said in a written reply.
He said 4,316units are operational/working condition.
"However,39units have been reported closed and de-registered by the Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce," the minister stated.
"No sick unit has been registered with the Directorate of Industries, Trade and Commerce. However, one unit M/s. Marmagoa Steel Limited, located at Curtorim, Salcete, Goa has approached the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction Board (BIFR), New Delhi and the decision is awaited," he said.
