Actor Seth Rogen will executive produce the television adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillion's twisted 1990s comic series "Preacher".

The 33-year-old "The Interview" star will executive produce the series along with Evan Goldberg. The pair had earlier co-directed disaster-comedy "This Is The End", reported Entertainment Weekly.

"We started reading the comic when it first came out in the '90s. In many ways Garth's sense of drama and comedy and Dillon's visual aesthetic helped form our style, and the idea that we are actually bringing 'Preacher' to life is a dream come true," said Rogen and Goldberg, who have also directed the pilot.

"Preacher" follows Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper), a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says.

Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun), the three embark on a journey to literally find God.

Sam Catlin will serve as executive producer and showrunner on the series which will air on AMC.

The series is set to air in mid-2016.
