Seven accused of attacking tourists sent to 12 days JC

The seven people arrested for allegedly robing tourists at a hotel in the Sundarbans have been remanded to jail custody for 12 days by a local court today.

The order was passed by Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate B V Srinivasan.

Later, police said it is on the look out for more miscreants involved in the attack.

Four families, comprising 15 members, were attacked at a hotel in Piyali tourist spot by about 12 dacoits who looted about Rs 75,000, gold ornaments, mobile phones and watches from them on Saturday night.

One of the tourists who tried to put up a resistance was shot at and injured.
 

West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim has alleged that Bangladeshi criminals were behind it but the police said the arrested accused belonged to Kultali area in South 24 Parganas district.
