Seven booked for killing man, dumping body in creek

Seven persons have been booked in connection with murder case of a man here last year, police said today.

The 37-year-old man was found dead near Kalyan creek in February, 2015, following which a case of accidental death was registered at Kopri Police Station, Thane Police spokesperson said.

Three persons were arrested in connection with a crime in Thane recently, who during interrogation revealed details of the case of last year and said that seven people had strangulated the man on February 25 and dumped his body in Kalyan creek, the officer said.

The trio also told police that the victim was employed with one of the seven persons.
 

The motive behind the murder could not be established, the officer said, adding that the accidental case registered then has been now converted into a murder case.

The case has been lodged under section 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) and 34 (common intention) against the seven persons.
