Seven children drown in separate incidents in UP

Seven children including four of a family drowned in three seperate incidents here today, police said.

Four children Sanjay (13), his younger brother Ghanshyam (10), his cousin brother Rakesh (11) and cousin sister Reshmi (9) had gone to play near a brick kiln in Kheri where a deep water pool had been formed due to heavy rains, they said.

All four of them drowned in the pool while trying to save each other, police said, adding that their bodies were later fished out with the help of locals.

In another incident in Nighasan area, two children Harish Chandra (10) and Rani (11) drowned in Sutia nulla near Beli village.
 

The children had gone there to graze their cattle but while crossing the nullah, they fell into it and drowned, police said.

In yet another incident in Kheri area, a seven-year-old boy Vishal accidentally slipped into Sharda canal, where he had gone to wash his legs and got drowned.
