A team of forest officials managed to capture a leopard that had strayed into Manipal University campus after a three-hour-long meticulous operation, police said.
The seven foot long leopard was spotted by a student last night, who immediately alerted the university authorities.
Panic swept through the university campus and nearby areas as the news of the presence of the leopard spread.

A ten-member team of Forest officials headed by Range Forest Officer, Prakash, spotted the animal near a bush inside the campus, but disturbed by the screams of about 3000 students who had gathered to watch the operation, the Leopard fled and took shelter in a nearby house.
The inmates of the house on seeing the leopard, shouted for help and the forest officials managed to trap it.
The students heaved a sigh of relief following the capture of the animal.
