Seven given life term in murder case

A local court today sentenced seven youths to life term for murdering a student of an engineering college in this district in 2010.

Addition sessions judge Jagjeet Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on the convicts for murdering the student of Mullana Engineering College.

According to prosecution, on April 29, 2010, there was an altercation between deceased Amit and few youths in the college campus.

When Amit was going to file a complaint against them in Mullana police station they attacked him, the prosecution said.

Amit sustained serious injury and was referred to PGI, Chandigarh, where he was succumbed to his injuries.
 

Later police registered a case against 10 people in this regard.

Seven of them -- Deepak, Mahesh, Rohit, Deepak Yadav, Ashok, Avesh and Sandeep -- were sentenced to life term while three -- Naveen, Dilip and Gurmeet -- were acquitted due to insufficient evidences against them.
