Seven held for allegedly planning dacoity: police

Seven persons, including two notorious gangsters from Rohtak in Haryana were arrested today with two pistols and live cartridges by the Rajasthan Police for allegedly planning a dacoity at an office of Muthoot Finance in city's Jhotwara area, an official said.

The arrested accused include Vikas Singh (34), Upendra Singh (19), Dharamveer Singh (28), Rajkumar alias Nitu (34), Somveer (34), Kuldeep Sharma (29) and Sunil Singh (23), he said.

Somveer and Rajkumar have murder cases registered in Rohtak. There are about 20 murder cases between the them and a rival gang, Additional Director General (ATS-SOG) Umesh Mishra said.

Inspector General (SOG), Dinesh M N said Vikas Singh and Upendra Singh were involved in betting and had incurred Rs 5 lakh losses and were hatching a dacoity along with accomplices to recover losses.

 

Kuldeep and Dharamveer had earlier worked with the finance company, he said.

The accused were produced before a court from where they were sent on a seven day police remand, the official said. The accused are being interrogated for their role in other criminal activities, he added.
