Seven killed as BRO vehicle plunges into gorge

At least seven people have been killed and three others injured after a vehicle of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) plunged into a gorge in Bandipora district of north Kashmir.

The BRO vehicle carrying labourers to Bandipora from Gurez skidded off the road at Tragbal and plunged into the gorge last evening, police said.

A rescue operation was launched during which five bodies were retrieved from the scene of the accident last night while five others were rescued in a critical condition and shifted to a hospital here.

Two of the injured succumbed to injuries this morning, the official said, adding the condition of the other three injured persons is still critical.
 

The rescue operation is still on as the driver of the vehicle is reported missing.

The deceased are yet to be identified but most of them belonged to Jharkhand, the official said.
