Seven militants arrested in Army, Police joint operation

Seven militants from NDFB(Songbijit), NSCN(IM) and National Liberation Front of Bengalis were apprehended during a joint operation by the police and the Army in lower Assam's Udalguri district since last night, a senior police officer today said.

The Police and the Army's 40 Field Regiment from Borengjuli launched an operation last night and apprehended NDFB(S) insurgents identified as Ashique Daimary and Nerswn Boro from Tangla and recovered one 36 Indian hand grenade from their possession, IGP LR Bishnoi told PTI.

Based on their input, another operation was launched today at village Goroibari under Udalguri police station and NSCN (IM)'sergeant major' Vihuto Sumi, National Democratic Front of Bodoland(S) insurgent Jipirush Narzary, NLFB 'deputy commander-in-chief' Ajit Biswash, NDFB cadres Lalchand Mandal and Ratanlal Mazumdar were apprehended, Bishnoi said.
 

One 7.65 pistol, two magazines and 50 rounds of assorted ammunition were recovered from Jipirush Narzary, while the same arms and ammunition were also recovered from Ajit Biswash, the IGP added.
