Seven people killed in after truck collides with a jeep

Seven people including two children and an equal number of women were killed as well as nine others were injured today after a jeep carrying them collided with a truck at the Sanadar Patia village road near Diyodar taluka of Banaskantha district, police said here today.

"Seven people including two women and two children were killed and nine others sustained injuries in a mishap on the road near Sanadar patiya of Diyodar taluka of the district after a jeep carrying them rammed into a truck coming from opposite site," police sub inspector T R Gadhvi said.

According to the police, the victims were returning in the jeep to Khimana village from Deodar when a truck collided with it head-on near Sanadar Patiya village road.
 

"So great was the impact that the jeep was thrown into the air and fell about 10 feet off the road," Gadhvi said.

Six people died on the spot and one succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. The injured persons were taken to Dhaarpur medical college in Patan district, the officer said.

Those dead were identified as jeep driver Velaji Thakor (30), Satuben Chaudhary (42), Jassiben Chaudhary (23), Himanshu Chaudhary (3), Neski (3), Ramji Katariya (70) and Prhalad Bajaniya (20) from Diyodar taluka.

The police has registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the truck driver, who manged to flee from the spot after the accident and impounded the vehicle.
