Seven pilgrims killed as jeep overturns

Seven members of a family were today killed and as many injured when a jeep overturned on them in Dholpur district, the police said.

The accident occurred when the victims were on their way to offer prayers at the Biloni Mata Temple and had stopped at an eatery near Sar Mathura town.

While some of the devotees were on cycles, others were walking.

The accident occurred when the jeep driver lost control after a flag being carried by the pilgrims got stuck in the jeep's tyre and the vehicle overturned, SP Rajesh Singh said.

He said four persons died on the spot whereas three died while undergoing treatment.
 

Seven injured persons are being treated in hospitals of Agra and Dholpur.
