Seven prisoners were injured, four of them seriously in a clash between two groups of inmates in a Kotputli sub-district jail here, police said today.

The injured inmates have been admitted to state BDM hospital in Kotputli.

"The clash broke out between two-groups of jail-inmates over cooking issue. Both the groups attacked each other with utensils and wood-logs available there.

"Seven prisoners were injured out of which four sustained serious injuries in their head and have been admitted to the state BDM hospital, their condition is critical," Station Officer Lakshminarayan Saini said.

The four prisoners whose condition is serious are-- Ramesh, Babulal, Ghanshyam and Sanjay.

Family members of the prisoners alleged that jail authorities used to demand money from the new prisoners, failing which, prisoners were physically assaulted and a serious incident like the present one was underplayed as normal clash.
