Several areas in Jammu have been reeling under power outage for past several days, with locals claiming their repeated requests to the authorities to restore electricity supply going unnoticed.

Several areas across Jammu city including Raina Colony in Babliana, Miran Sahab have been without electricity for the past several days.

"There has been no electricity in our locality for the past six days and the repeated requests to the authorities have gone unnoticed," Ramandeep Singh a resident of Raina Colony said.

The residents claimed that even though they continue to pay their electricity bills within time, power development department does not care for them.

"As there is no VVIP living in our locality that is why nobody is bothered about us. We called several officials of the power development department, but six days have passed and nothing has been done to restore electricity in the locality," another resident said.

An official of the power development department said, "The capacity of the transformer in these areas is less as they were installed for a few houses, but in the past few years these areas have witnessed huge growth, but the infrastructure is not sufficient to bear the load here."

When contacted Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ajeet Kumar Sahu said that he would "look into the issue and make sure that electricity was restored in these areas".
