Several options on taking rail service to the popular hill shrine of Laxminarasimha Swamy in Nalgonda district of Telangana from Secunderabad, are being studied, a top officail of Hyderabad Metro Rail said today.

"We are examining different alternatives on taking train service to the hill shrine in Yadagirigutta and accordingly proposals will be submitted to the state government," Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Managing Director N V S Reddy said.

The government, in turn, will take up the matter with the Railway Ministry, he said, adding the short-term plan is to go for general rail service to the shrine, about 55 km from Secunderabad.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Hyderabad Metro Rail service would be extended up to the hill shrine, but Reddy clarified that there was no such plan as of now.

Reddy visited Rayagiri station in Nalgonda and also Yadagirigutta on an invitation of Bhongir Member of Parliament Boora Narsaiah Goud.
