Several unauthorised digital banners removed in Chennai

The Chennai District Collector today informed the Madras High Court that as on June 14, several unauthorised hoardings and 9287 digital banners have been removed and 76 FIR's have been filed in respect of violations.

When the contempt petition filed by "Traffic" Ramaswamy on the unauthorized digital banners and hoardings has come up before the First Bench Comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice T S Sivagnanam, an interim report was filed by the Monitoring Committee headed by Justice S Rajeswaran (retired) and affidavit by the Collector were filed.

In her counter affidavit E Sundaravalli, Chennai District Collector submitted that erection of unauthorised hoardings/digital banners is being identified by the flying squads and removal of them are being reviewed seriously every week and relevant instructions have been issued to take speedy action against the persons responsible for such things.
 

The bench posted the matter for further hearing to September 15.
