National Human Rights Commission today issued a notice to the Haryana government over the death of two workers allegedly due to asphyxia while cleaning a sewer line of a factory.
The rights panel has given four-week time to the state government to submit a report in this regard.
According to an NHRC statement, the Commission has issued a notice to the Chief Secretary of Haryana after taking suo motu cognisance of a media report stating that the two labourers died of asphyxia while cleaning the sewer.

Another labourer was rescued and hospitalised, the report said.
Terming the incident as a serious violation of human rights, the Commission said "factories and manufacturing ventures in the corporate sector should make profits, but not at the cost of human rights."
"The corporates as part of their social responsibility, should take up steps to ensure that such avoidable mishaps are prevented while the state also has a huge responsibility in this regard," the statement said.
