Twenty eight females, including nine minors, along with 12 youth were arrested for allegedly being involved in a sex racket, in a raid near Chaldu village in the district.
A drive against sex rackets operating in the district was launched by the district Superintendent of Police (SP) Tarun Nayak, and as part of the same, a raid was conducted last night behind a roadside food joint near Chaldu village, following a tip-off, police said.
"28 females, including nine minors, as well as 12 young men were arrested from the spot for allegedly indulging in sex trade," City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Abhishek Diwan told PTI.
The arrested persons were brought to the Zeeran police station, where a case under relevant sections of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act was registered against them, he said, adding further investigation was on.
