Taking note of a petition of sexual exploitation of 14 students at a state-run school allegedly by its headmaster, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to Odisha Government.

The incident came to light in Nayagarh district last month when irate guardians of the victims petitioned the District Collector.

NHRC in its notice to the state government asked the school and mass education secretary to file a detailed report on the incident within four weeks.

Human Rights activist Prabir Das had moved NHRC and had urged it to direct the state government to pay Rs five lakh as damage to the affected students and to take stringent action against the head master.
