Simon Fraser University (SFU) today said it has signed an agreement with the Bombay Stock Exchange Institute (BSEI) and Ryerson to accelerate the development and commercialisation of innovative research and new technologies in India and Canada.

"It's a ground-breaking collaboration that builds on SFU's already strong relationships in India," SFU President Andrew said in a release issued here.

The BSEI-Ryerson-SFU Accelerator Programme India was announced in January 2014, with the signing of a Letter of Intent.

The programme, known as Zone Startups India, which includes the BSEI, Ryerson Futures Inc and SF Univentures as partners, will involve collaboration on several fronts, involving accelerating the development and commercialisation of innovative research and new technologies in India and Canada.

The Mumbai-based digital technology incubator and accelerator Zone Startups India will help entrepreneurs in both India and Canada fast track their start-ups and connect with mentors, customers and investors, it said.

"This partnership will increase opportunities for our student entrepreneurs to engage with global markets. It is also an important step in strengthening SFU's innovation agenda by enabling the sharing of best practises between the partners," Petter added.
