The election passed off peacefully and about 2.5 lakh students of HP university and 96 affiliated colleges participated in the polls.
Rahul Chauhan of SFI defeated Dinesh Kumar of ABVP for the post of President of HPU by a margin of 713 votes. Chauhan polled 1,319 votes against 606 votes polled by Dinesh.
Priyanka Chauhan (SFI) was elected Vice President defeating Parul Shukla by 670 votes. Priyanka polled 1,265 votes against 695 votes polled by her rival while Vikram Kaith (SFI) polled 1318 votes for the post of Secretary against 622 votes polled by Tarun Thakur of ABVP.
The post of Joint Secretary was also won by SFI candidate Amit Kumar who polled 1,340 votes against 589 votes polled by his ABVP rival Naresh Kumar Dasta. Out of 48 posts of departmental representatives in the HPU, SFI won 46 posts of DRs while ABVP and NSUI shared one each.
