One youth was killed, while six others, including two cops, were injured in clashes between between police and sikh youths who were protesting against removal of posters of slain Khalistani militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in Jammu city.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president also alleged that police was behind the killing of the youth.

"It was police which created law and order problem in Jammu while removing the poster of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale which has hurt the sentiments of Sikhs in the region and they came on roads to lodge protest against the police," he alleged.

Seeking stringent action against the guilty, Makkar in a letter to the Jammu and Kashmir chief minsiter has asked him to book cops under the relevant sections of IPC for removing the poster of Bhindranwale and for the alleged killing.

Makkar said if guilty cops were not arrested the situation may slip out of control.
