SGPC earmarks Rs 800 cr annual budget for 2013-2014

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex religious body of the Sikhs, today passed a budget of Rs 800 crore for the financial year 2013-2014.

SGPC General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhaur presented the budget in the presence of SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar, official sources said.

According to Makkar, SGPC this time has earmarked Rs 48 crore for General Board funds, Rs 31 crore for Trust Funds, Rs 23 crore for education, Rs 6 crore for printing press.

However, Rs 52 crore were earmarked for promoting Sikh religious activities. Similarly, Rs 133 crore would be incurred for educational institutions being run by SGPC in Punjab and Haryana.
 

Whereas, SGPC this time has kept Rs 510 crore for the management of all Gurdwaras in both the states, he added.

The budget earmarked by SGPC for the previous year was nearly Rs 700 crore.
