BJP chief Amit Shah is all set to become the party President again after top party leaders led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a bevy of Union ministers and chief ministers of BJP-ruled states proposed his name for the party President's post during the nomination process today.

The announcement of Shah's unopposed election for the top party post will be made in the afternoon when the nomination process ends as no other leader is in the fray.

Among others who have proposed Shah's name are Union minister Rajnath Singh, Anant Kumar and J P Nadda, M Venkaiah Naidu, besides BJP chief ministers Vasundhara Raje, Raghubar Das, Shivraj Singh Chauhan and others.

BJP Parliamentary Board is scheduled to meet on January 28 evening to welcome Shah into his new term.

This will be first full term, which is for three years, for the close confidant of Modi.

Shah had taken over as the party chief during midway of Rajnath Singh's term after Singh joined the government as the Home Minister in May 2014.

Shah said when a foreign mercenary, Salar Gazi (Ghaznavid general and nephew of Mahmud of Ghazni), came to destroy Surajkund, Suheldeo thwarted his mission and destroyed Ghazi's entire army.

The BJP president said if those, who participated in the freedom struggle remembered Suheldeo, then young generation should take inspiration from him.

He said those who do not remember their brave ancestors cannot create history.

He said by unveiling Suheldeo's statue a message would be sent to every village and coming generations about how mercernaries can be defeated.

Suheldeo is mentioned in Mirat-i-Masudi, a 17th-century Persian-language historical romance. Twentieth century onwards, various Hindu nationalist groups have characterized him as a Dalit Hindu king who defeated a Muslim invader.

Shah said, "India got freedom due to the sacrifices made

by millions but today if you support those who threaten to break the country in the name of freedom of expression, you will have to answer the public."

Asserting that the BJP strongly condemns the "anti- national" slogans and would never support them, Shah said, "Anti-national slogans cannot be tolerated."

The BJP national president said the NDA government at the Centre has taken several initiatives for the poor and farmers, including the Jan Dhan Yojana and a comprehensive crop insurance scheme.

Twenty crore bank accounts have been opened under the scheme in just 1.5 years, he said.

The Mudra Bank has given loans worth Rs 90,000 crore to 45 lakh youth that has helped them open their own businesses and shops. It has also opened the doors of banking for the poor, he said.

He alleged that the opposition was not allowing the Parliament to function but Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working relentlessly for the country's progress and upliftment of the poor.

In Balrampur, Shah alleged that Rahul was shielding traitors and said those supporting anti-national elements should also be punished.
