"We are, with the hope of transparent enquiry in the scams of this government, presenting our case for the past 75 days since the hearing has commenced. But the Commission, by refusing us to bring any witnesses, to examine them or even passing any orders on our applications, is totally ignoring us," Citizens for Democracy's secretary Gautam Thakar told a press conference.
"We would have preferred the issue being enquired by this Commission is probed by the Lokayukt. But since the issue of appointment of Lokayukta in Gujarat is sub-judice, we have no other option but to present our case before the Commission," he said.
According to him, since the Commission commenced hearing on the issues before it, no other person or institutions has participated in the enquiry, except CFD and People's Union for Civil Liberties.
He alleged that they were also compelled to present the "truth behind these scams to dispel the prevailing atmosphere of 'fear' in the state".
After the Gujarat Congress leaders made a representation before the President of India about the alleged widespread corruption and preferential treatment meted out to certain industrial houses by Modi government, the state on August 18, 2011 formed the Commission under the chairmanship of retired Supreme Court Justice M B Shah, to enquire into various allegations against the government.
