Nine candidates including nominees of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today filed their nominations for the Shahkot bypoll.
A spokesperson of Punjab chief electoral officer today said Naib Singh of the SAD and Rattan Singh of the AAP filed their nominations.
Rajesh Kumar (Independent), Manohar Lal (Independent) and Satpal Singh (Rashtriya Janta Congress), were among others who also filed nominations.
Spokesperson further said the last date for filing nominations is tomorrow while the date of withdrawal of candidature is May 14.
He also said by-poll for Shahkot would be held onMay 28and results would be declared onMay 31.
Bypoll to Shahkot Assembly seat was necessitated following the death of former minister and senior Akali leader Ajit Singh Kohar.
