Pop star Shakira has revealed she is quitting singing reality show 'The Voice' for the sake of her family.

The 'Hips Don't Lie' hitmaker, who has four-month-old son Milan with soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique, has confirmed she is stepping down from her role as a coach on the US talent show after just one series to focus on her personal life and music career, but hasn't ruled out a return in the future, reported Us magazine.

"I am not going to be able to do next season because I have to get back to my motherhood and also get back to the studio, the recording studio, to finish my album, the one that I started working on before I had to deliver a baby and before I took this gig with 'The Voice'," she said.

"So yeah, I have to take a little break. But you never know, I might come back."

Shakira said she had taken the decision because all the travelling she had to do for the show had been hard on her son.

"It was a hard decision for me to make, because I'm really fond of the coaches, the people in production and everybody around me. And I really enjoyed 'The Voice', but I also have a musical career and I'm also a mother now and my poor baby's so tired flying such long distances," she said.

It has also been speculated that Usher will leave the show, and while host Carson Daly has confirmed that singer Christina Aguilera will be returning to the panel in Shakira's place.
