Shakkar prices climb by Rs 100 per quintal on tight stocks

Shakkar prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today due to paucity of stocks.

Elsewhere, other gur varieties maintained at overnight closing levels on sporadic demand.

Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also depicted a quiet trend.

Marketmen said scarcity of stocks on tight supplies from manufacturing belts largely pushed up shakkar prices.

In Delhi, Shakkar prices advanced by Rs 100 to finish the day at Rs 4,100-4,200 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 3,500-3,600, pedi Rs 3,800-3,900, dhayya Rs 3,900-4,000 and shakkar Rs 4,100-4,200.
 

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,625-2,675, chakku Rs 3,100- 3,250,khurpa Rs N.Q. And Ladoo Rs 3,250-3,300.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 3,400-3,450 and dhayya Rs 3,450- 3,500.
