Talented Haryana Shot putter Shakti Solanki stole the limelight on the third day of the National Junior Athletics Meet winning the gold with a national record effort of 20.21 metres.
The state of Kerala is slowly surging towards the championship title with an aggregate of 257 points compared to their nearest rival Haryana, who are on 227 points. Tamil Nadu is in third place with 194 points.
At the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, Solanki bettered six-year-old national mark of 19.91 m that was held by Jasdeep Singh of Punjab.

The other highlight of the day was Kerala high-jumper Sreenith Mohan, cleared a height of 2.18m to create a national record. However the effort was slightly below his personal best of 2.20 metres at the state championshp earlier this year.
However the the Athletics Federation of India ratifies age-group records only if they have registered during recognized competitions and performed in the specific age-categories.
