The yet-to-be released Naseeruddin Shah starrer "The Blueberry Hunt" and Academy Award winner short film "Curfew" will feature in the upcoming Shamiana Film Fest, which will be held for the first time in the city this month.

The Shamiana Weekend Affair, which is present in 11 cities in India, Australia and Hong Kong with regular screenings, will be held in Guwahati from August 30 to September 1.

The festival, which mainly comprises short films, is brought to the city by Creovaent Productions along with venue partner Terra Mayaa.

"Usually the film festivals are organised once or twice in a year. Even the short film fests are held in that way. So, to give people chance to enjoy short and world famous films regularly, we are bringing the Shamiana to Guwahati," Creovaent Productions' owner Prithish Chakraborty told PTI.

Shamiana has already been an established brand in organising such short film festivals on weekends across many cities in several countries, he added.

However, making an exception, the festival will show the full-length feature film "The Blueberry Hunt", directed by Anup Kurian, on the last day.

"It will be a chance to enjoy the film much before its official release," Chakraborty said.

Among other flicks, the Guwahati edition of Shamiana will screen Shawn Christensen's "Curfew", which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short.

Another Academy Award nominated short film "Little Terrorist" by Ashvin Kumar from India will also be shown at the festival, Chakraborty said.

The three-day festival will screen a total of nine films from different countries.
