A keeper at a zoo in China's Shanghai city was today mauled to death by a rare South China tiger.
Zoo authorities said a 56-year-old man surnamed Zhou was killed in the attack when he entered the tiger's pen to clean the area.
State-run Xinhua news agency reported that the authorities have sent legal and medical experts to investigate the tragic incident.
A golf course-turned-animal park, the Shanghai's zoo is one of China's largest.
