Shanta asks parties to join hands to fight corruption

BJP leader Shanta Kumar has welcomed the Supreme Court's direction to free CBI from control of the government and urged the political parties to make positive suggestions in this regard.

The forming of Group of Ministers is a golden opportunity to draft a law to insulate the investigating agency from external influence, he said in a statement here.

The legal experts and intellectuals must ensure that the opportunity was availed in the interest of people suffering due to rampant corruption, Kumar said.

The Supreme Court had asked the Union government to make an effort to come out with a law to insulate CBI from external influence and intrusion.
 

Appealing to political parties and others concerned to avail the opportunity offered by the Supreme Court, Kumar said "let us join the campaign to free CBI from government control and become partners in rooting out the cancer of corruption.
