A couple of Durga puja committees were today given 'Sharodiya Digital Impact awards 2017' as images of pandals and idols are increasingly occupying space in social media.
An estimated 1500 puja committees from all over Bengal had sent entries to the 'Sharodiya Digital Impact Awards 2017 committee which honoured the best Durga Puja on social media considering concept, creativity, implementation and the number of page likes to the Best Integrated (cross-platform) social media campaign,
The jury consisted of dance exponent and social activist Alokananda Roy, singer-lyricist-music composer Surojit Chatterjee, director-producer Satrajit Sen, choreographer Sudarshan Chakravorty among others.

The category is divided into three parts - Best Digital Impact Award, Jury Choice Awards and Peoples Choice Award.
Prafulla Kanan (Poschim) Adhibasi Brinda (winner), Siddheswari Garden Aabashikbrinda Puja Committee (first runners-up) and Chetla Agrani Club (second runners-up) were chosen in the Best Digital Impact Award category.
The Jury Choice award recipients are Singhi Park Sarbojanin Durga Puja Committee (winner), Mudiali Club Durga Puja Committee (first runners-up) and Shyamol Dhon Dutta Bari Pujo (second runners-up).
The Peoples Choice Awards went to Golf Club Road Durga Puja Committee (1st), Sahapur Agradoot Sangha (2nd), Sahapur Panchabatitala Sammilani (3rd) and Goabagan Sarodatsav Sammilani (4th).
Alakananda Roy said, "It was a difficult job to pick up the puja committees from a whopping 1500 entries from different places. But what possibly tilted the scales is how the winners used the social media by successfully using information, communication and technology to reach out to people.
