Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, facing criticism for undertaking frequent visits abroad, spent Rs 257 million on 15 foreign trips in one year, the Parliament was informed today.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a written reply to the lawmakers query, informed the National Assembly that between May 2013 and June 2014 at least Rs 257 million (Rs 0.7 million per day) was spent on Sharif's visits to 15 countries.
The cash-strapped government has been under criticism over Sharif making frequent overseas trips.

Sharif visited the US again in October 2013 for which around Rs 35 million was used from government funds to pay for the trip.
His trip to the UK in May 2014 cost the state exchequer Rs 22.2 million.
