Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was reprimanded and handed a fine of USD 1,000 for his involvement in an on-field altercation with Hardus Viljoen of Highveld Lions in their Champions League Twenty20 match.
According to organisers, Sharma breached the CLT20 Code of Conduct at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium yesterday.
"Sharma admitted to the Level 1 offence (Section 1 - A1) of conduct contrary to the spirit of the game," the organisers said is a statement.
Viljoen, too, was reprimanded for breaching the code of conduct but was not fined.
"Viljoen admitted to the Level 1 offence (Section 1 - A1/A2) of conduct contrary to the spirit of the game," it said.
Mumbai defeated Lions by seven wickets in a Group A match.
