Union minister Mahesh Sharma today said all artists including those in North East and tribal areas deserve respect and honour apart from right remuneration.
"Although the artists deserve to be compensated in a proper manner, they also deserve honour and respect," said the minister after inaugurating National Tribal and North East Art Conclave.
In the seven-day event, artists from tribal areas and North East would be showcasing their skills at Lalit Kala Akademi here.

Speaking on the policy making, the Minister of State for Tourism and Culture said "as administrators, we should bear it in mind that we don't undermine the honour and emotions of artists."
"As they present their emotions through their brush and colours, our responsibility is to present our country's art, especially that of North East, with a platform so the world can recognise its name," said Sharma.
Appreciating Lalit Kala Akademi for building a platform for the artists, he said, they would otherwise have no opportunities to display their talent.
"They are in remote areas where they don't have proper transportation, but it is the responsibility of institutions like Lalit Kala Akademi to present their art and talent to the world," he said.
Such institutions require complete freedom so they can fulfill their responsibilities, Sharma said.
