The sensational Sheena Bora murder case in the nation's financial capital and its unending twists and turns dominated headlines across the country this year.
Other major crime-related incidents included the hooch tragedy in Malvani in which over 100 people died and the case involving self-styled godwoman Radhe Maa.
The Sheena Bora murder case surfaced in August having all the ingredients of the murder most foul.

The accused involves media baron Peter Mukerjea, his wife Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and Mukerjea's driver Shyam Rai, whose arrest led had led to the detection of murder case after almost three years.
Considering the case's twists and turns, not only the accused had to face the heat, but also former Mumbai top cop Rakesh Maria, whose reportedly keen interest in the case led to his abrupt promotion and transfer as DGP (Home Guards).
Consequently, the city police chief's designation was upgraded to DG from being ADG after which the then DG (Home Guards) Ahmad Javed was made the new city police chief.
The Sheena Bora case was transferred to the CBI in September but there has been no headway though Peter was arrested in November.
In third week of June, over 100 people died and about 45 others fell ill after consuming spurious liquor in the northern suburban area of Malvani.
Investigators arrested the accused not only from the city but also from the areas of Gujarat, which unraveled the Mumbai-Gujarat nexus of spurious liquor.
Further, the probe also brought to light the organised way in which the accused used to liaison with licensed methanol companies in Gujarat and buy off their surplus stock, which was then mixed into the spurious liquor.
In August, Mumbai police faced immense criticism on social media after Malvani police booked 13 couples for alleged indecent behaviour on Madh island and Aksa beach.
This was following reports that police also knocked on the doors of hotel rooms and carted away couples to Malvani police station.
In this regard, former police commissioner Maria had initiated a probe against the police officials concerned who had raided the places.
Also in August, Radhe Maa alias Sukhvinder Kaur was booked by Borivali police in a dowry harassment case, in which she allegedly tortured and harassed a married woman by insisting the latter's in-laws to put pressure on her.
She was booked by police in Mumbai in yet another case -- involving alleged sexual harassment, obscenity and criminal intimidation and these allegations against her were levelled by Bollywood actor Dolly Bindra.
