Atleast 40 sheep were run over by a speeding goods train in Maharashtra's Beed district after they strayed on to the railway tracks here, officials said today.

The incident took place after midnight near Malkapur on the city outskirts when a huge flock escaped from their farm shelter in Vaijwadi village and were roaming on the tracks between Parli Vaijnath and Ghatnandur stations, they said.
