A special CBI court today rejected the bail plea of two accused in the murder of RTI activist Shehla Masood.

Saquib Ali 'Danger' and Tabish Khan, the alleged shooters accused of executing the murder in 2011, were refused bail by Judge Anupam Srivastava.

The accused had filed the bail applications in December and the court completed hearing the arguments on them by defence lawyer and CBI prosecutor last week.

Rejecting the plea, the court said it is not prudent to grant relief to the duo considering the seriousness of the crime they have been accused of committing and also given the complexities of the case.

Five people are on trial for the murder of Masood who was shot dead outside her residence in Bhopal on August 16, 2011.

Besides Saquib and Tabish, the other accused are interior designer Zahida Parvez, her associate Saba Farooqi and Irfan, an alleged contract killer hailing from Kanpur. All the accused are in judicial custody since their arrest.
