A teenage shepherd was killed in a blast in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The teenager's aunt had first picked an explosive device from the bushes in Kither forests while taking their cattle for grazing yesterday, and the device was then taken from her by the boy, Superintendent of Police (SP), Kishtwar Kulbir Singh told PTI.

As the woman moved ahead with the cattle, the boy hit it with a stone resulting in the blast in which he was killed, the SP said adding that he was identified as Yousef (15).

A police team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) rushed to the area to investigate the matter and collect samples of the device for examination, Singh added.
