Mohammad has assumed his office, state Haj Committee Executive Officer R S Yadav said here today.
The notification nominating Mohammad as the committee's chairman was issued by the Minority Welfare Department here on November 19, he said.
The 13-member Haj Committee consists of two MLAs Furkan Ahmad and Haji Sarwat Karim Ansari.
The Haj Committee makes arrangements for the pilgrimage of Muslims for Haj.
