Shillong filmmaker's work in BBC wins 2 awards

Shillong-based filmmaker Tarun Bhartiya has bagged two international awards for his BBC series, "India's Frontier Railways - Last Train to Nepal".

Bhartiya won the 'Best Director' award as well as 'Best Post-Production' award at the Royal Television Society, Yorkshire Awards 2016 in the UK.

"On the day of Brexit & Borders - India's Frontier Railways won two awards out of three nominations - We won Best Director for The Last Train in Nepal and Outstanding Post Production," Tarun said in his Facebook page.

The Last Train in Nepal is the second episode from a three-part series titled India's Frontier Railways which talks about trains crossing borders in India and its neighbours - Nepal, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
 

The film focuses on a train journey as it crosses the border between India and Nepal, which also a livelihood for many people living along its track.

The 32 km-long rail track runs between Janakpur town in Nepal to the Indian junction station of Jaynagar in Bihar.
