Shinde is learnt to have apprised the CCPA, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, about the steps taken by the government in rehabilitating the victims of the violence between Bodos and Muslim immigrants in some districts of Assam.
Nearly five lakh people were affected by the violence that had broken out in Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts Chirang, Dhubri and Kokrajhar in late July.
Three lakh people have been rehabilitated and adequate forces have been deployed to maintain law and order.
Shinde is understood to have told the CCPA that two lakh people were still in relief camps and they will be rehabilitated after verifying their antecedents and land records.
